Specifications include, but are not limited to: This project consists of a 1230 lf design/build retaining wall, with an 11’ average height of visible wall face along the south side of Mill Road to stabilize the north creek bank of Mill Creek from the first residential drive over Mill Creek east of Balch Road to the bridge on Mill Road over Mill Creek east of Mill Park Lane. The project will include the temporary rerouting of Mill Road onto the walking path, which will require improving, widening, and restoration after the project is complete. All traffic control and rerouting will be per MUTCD guidelines. All Design/Build wall types will require preapproval prior to bid submission. The wall should be permanent in nature, designed for a 25 year or more life span, and be suited for the varying flows of Mill Creek along with the velocities (minimum design standard of 11 ft/sec) associated with larger rain events. Reinforced earthen slopes, gabion baskets, or other similar type walls will not be acceptable. The wall should be designed to accommodate guard rail, which is included in the scope, along the entire length. The bidder will be responsible for providing a fully engineered retaining wall that is designed and stamped by a professional engineer licensed in the State of Alabama.
