Specifications include, but are not limited to: Phase I – Facility Needs 1. Interview key staff on the facility needs. 2. Review existing building data including plans, organizational chart, and department functions. 3. Assess the current Public Works facility for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. 4. Calculate parking needs for staff and visitors. 5. Assess the current facility to determine what space is necessary to handle the current and future space demands including but not limited to: office space, breakroom/lunchroom, restrooms/locker rooms, meeting rooms, general storage, vehicle and equipment storage, vehicle and equipment maintenance, parking and material storage, centralized purchasing and receiving. Include an assessment of potential types of covered equipment storage to reduce potential future hail damage. 6. Assess the current facility for potential alternate locations or improvements to current locations for the following activities: a. Centralized purchasing and receiving b. Polycart washing c. Dumpster painting and refurbishment d. Recyclable materials collection and operations e. Household hazardous waste storage area improvements f. Permanent household hazardous waste collection facility 7. Review current location to determine the highest, best use for this property to support city services. a. Provide space needs analysis including: i. Current space allocation ii. Current space needs iii. Future space needs b. Identify the needed space for each service provided, acknowledging that services and service levels could change. Compare recommended square footage against existing square footage.
