Specifications include, but are not limited to: The rangeland fence will be constructed of barbwire, cedar posts, and steel “T” post, and installation of wire gates. All metal easy braces will be used for the in-line and corner braces. See attached fence plan map, drawings and descriptions below for more details. Contractor must have experience in constructing rangeland barbed wire fences and installing the easy braces. The successful contractor will construct the fence as specified below and will provide all labor and equipment (i.e. tractor, pliers, hammers, wire stretchers, chain saw, ATV, etc.) necessary to complete the fence as specified. GENERAL FENCE SPECIFICATIONS FOR A FOUR STRAND BARBWIRE FENCE PROJECT - Posts • Cedar posts will be 7-8 ft tall and must be buried and compacted so that there is only 5 ft above ground. • All posts will be spaced on 12 ft. centers. Between every cedar post, there will be 3 steel T-posts. • Cedar and steel t-posts, etc. shall be set plumb (vertical), in complete straight alignment with fence lines, and be sturdy. • Steel T-posts shall be pounded into the ground a minimum of 18” with the spade completely buried. • Steel T-posts shall be uniform height through-out the fence (i.e., pound all steel T-posts to the same height). • Cedar and steel T-post spacing shall be a maximum of 12 feet. Distance may very depending on ground conditions, terrain, corner braces, gates, etc. In no locations shall there be posts spaced more than 14 feet apart. • Cedar and steel posts shall be evenly spaced between H-braces, gates or other bracing. Wire • Barbed wire spacing shall be measured perpendicular to the ground and wire spacing will be 16 inches, 8 inches, 8 inches, and 10 inches from the ground up. The top height of all barbed wire shall not be higher than 42 inches above the ground. • Barbed wire must be stretched tight with similar tension on all 4 strands.
