Specifications include, but are not limited to: Graham County requests bids to remove decedents from place of death, to transport decedents to and from the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office, and to provide funeral and cremation services for its indigent residents A. Contractor agrees to do the following for each, whether an adult or child: i. Remove the decedent from their place of death, at law enforcement’s request, and transport the decedent to the Contractor’s funeral home. ii. Communicate with law enforcement and the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office (ME’s Office) to determine whether an autopsy is required. iii. Schedule an autopsy with the ME’s Office if an autopsy is required. iv. Transport the decedent and their personal effects from the Contractor’s funeral home to the Pima County Medical Examiner’s Office for the scheduled autopsy, if applicable. Wait onsite for the ME’s Office to complete the autopsy, unless the ME’s Office specifies otherwise, and then transport he decedent and personal effects to the Graham County funeral home selected by the decedent’s next of kin. If no funeral home has been selected, transport the decedent back to the Contractor’s funeral home. v. If no autopsy is required, the decedent shall remain at the Contractor’s funeral home, unless and until the decedent’s next of kin makes funeral arrangements at another funeral home. In such case, Contractor shall arrange for the other funeral home to pick up the decedent and all personal effects.
