Specifications include, but are not limited to: I. Electrical – Reference image below. Contractor shall make evaluation of existing power rail, install new power system along the wall closest to the parking lot to accommodate outlets that shall sufficiently accommodate power modules built into seats. Power requirements shall meet, at a minimum, Amtrak standards (reference Appendix A), but shall also meet all local and state, and industrial code compliance for safe operation. Sufficient number of compliant outlets shall be installed to accommodate all power modules from new beam seating. II. Existing Seating – Amtrak shall have right of first refusal for existing seating. Provided Amtrak refuses some or all existing seating, contractor shall remove, haul away off-site, and dispose appropriately all identified seats as determined by Amtrak on site. Contractor shall relocate any seating retained by Amtrak to a designated location within the campus by the Amtrak PM or its designate. Contractor shall coordinate with Amtrak to designate a temporary location for dumpster(s) or container prior to removal. Contractor shall take extraordinary care when removing seating to minimize damage to station walls, floors, doors, and other finishings. The existing bench that sits in the East main waiting room along the wall closest to platform shall be relocated and secured in the open space west of the former ticket office. Contractor shall make evaluation and propose work to restore and protect existing wood benches. III. NEW Seating – Contractor shall make evaluation, furnish, and install new seating. Contractor shall make proposal to install aesthetically appropriate modern seating meeting Amtrak standards and requirements (Appendix A), and a separate proposal to install new wooden bench seating meeting same requirements in Appendix A. New seating shall be planned to evoke free flow of pedestrian travel. All new seating along walls shall incorporate power outlets that may include USB (A or C) ports. Contractor shall make determination of beam length and commensurate quantity of seats as part of submittal process. New seating shall have armrests, except for endcap seats closest to the platform entrance door. Those seats shall be marked with the ADA-compliant accessibility symbol to designate as a transfer seat. -Modern seating - Seating shall not have end tables, except when necessary to fill gaps or voids. Seat and back color shall be black with frame metal being an aluminum finish. Seats and backs shall be polyurethane or polyethylene material, easy to clean and maintain, and can be individually replaced if damaged. New seats shall also incorporate bariatric friendly individual seats, 30 inch seats, into the design aesthetic. Minimum quantity of individual seats shall be no less than twenty (20). -Wooden seating – Seating shall not have end tables, except when necessary to fill gaps or voids. Each individual seat shall have armrests, backs, and integrate bariatric friendly seats. Sourced wood shall be solid wood and durable in nature. Wood shall be stained to match existing building interior wood trim, and a protective coating shall be applied. Wall backed wooden seating systems shall incorporate power outlets/USB ports into the seat itself. Reference image below for basis of integrated power. Feet shall be capped with a durable metal cap and shall be protected from deterioration on account of water, salt, and cleaning products. Preferred wooden seating system is solid wood backs and seats. Slotted or slatted wooden seating may be considered. Contractor shall take extraordinary care to avoid damage to existing flooring system, doors, entries, walls, and other finishings. IV. Exterior Benches – All exterior benches shall be metal in nature, i.e. steel or heavy gauge aluminum. Benches shall have a center armrest. Benches shall be secured to existing concrete floor/surface. Benches shall be powdercoated black. Length of bench shall be commensurate with the space of existing benches. Benches shall be located on the track side of station building and east side of station building.
