Specifications include, but are not limited to: Task 1 - Preliminary Design • Surveying - Provide horizontal and vertical control, utility location verification, and all the items required for design of each project. Identify the location of the existing trail easement, any existing utility easements, existing canal, trees, and encroachment items in the survey. Page 4 • Aerial Mapping – The City has flown the entire area within the City boundaries in the Spring of 2024, and has this information available for the consultant’s use. • Geotechnical Investigation – A geotechnical investigation report is not required for these projects. However, the consultant shall notify the city of any concerns with the existing soils. • Trail Drainage Evaluation - Consult with City Engineering staff to determine where and how the project will be drained. Identify any alternatives that might be considered for drainage. It is anticipated that the trail will drain to the adjacent canal. • Utilities Evaluation - Identify the existence of utilities beneath and adjacent to the proposed improvements. The trail design shall be designed to avoid any utility relocations. The consultant will be expected to contact all utility companies, as needed, to coordinate locations and avoid utility conflicts. The city is not aware of any utilities that will be impacted by the project. • Carlquist Drive At-Grade Trail Crossing Evaluation – Consult with City Engineering staff to determine the parameters of an at-grade street crossing . The consultant will be expected to provide an analysis of the crossing, that provides design recommendations for a safe crossing. It is anticipated that some measures, such as the removal of trees (for site distance) and implementation of a refuge island may be recommended to create a safe crossing. • Encroachment Evaluation - Identify existing encroachments into the trail easement for each property. Evaluate what encroachment items will need to be removed as part of this project. It is anticipated that several encroachment items, including fencing, landscaping, trees, and backyard improvements will need to be removed for construction of the trail.
