Specifications include, but are not limited to: Contractor will provide all labor, equipment, materials, and incidentals necessary to produce, haul, place, tack and compact approximately 9,776 tons of ¾” Commercial Plant Mix Grade S 64-28 asphalt mix material. The overlay shall be paved .15 feet thick and approximately 26 feet wide. Taper mill 100’ x 26’ @ a depth of .15’ at the beginning and end of the project. There are 2 bridges on this route. Bridge #1 is at mile 1.1. Bridge #2 is at mile 5.9. Both bridges are 60’ long with an asphalt deck. The Contractor will mill across each bridge to a depth of 0.15’ and taper mill a 70’ transition on each end for a total of 200’ of milling at each location. Contractor shall provide all labor, equipment, materials, and incidentals necessary to produce, haul, place, roll and broom approximately 101,435 square yards of laid-in-place chip seal. The chip seal will be approximately 6.65 miles long and 26 feet wide. Contractor shall provide CRS-2P asphalt emulsion and Type 1 chips. The emulsion application rate for chip seals is estimated at .43 gallons per square yard. The cover material application rate is estimated at 25 pounds per square yard. Actual application rates will be based on the chip design and the actual field adjustments. If the cover material application rate of 25 pounds per square yard is not sufficient to provide a quality job, the Project Managers will jointly determine what the new application rate should be. Contractor must furnish a water truck for dust control and wetting of chips. Arrangements must be made by the Contractor for acquiring water for wetting and sweeping. It will be the responsibility of the Contractor to determine the centerline and place reflective tabs prior to the chip seal. Immediately after sweeping Contractor shall provide CSS-1H asphalt emulsion diluted at a ratio of 60% oil and 40% water diluted at the supplier. Apply the fog seal at an estimated application rate of 0.15 gallons per square yard. If the application rate is not sufficient to provide a quality job, the Project Managers will jointly determine what the new application rate should be. All traffic must be kept off of the fog seal until it has cured sufficiently to prevent traffic from tracking the emulsion as determined by the Project Manager. This time is estimated to be approximately 45 to 60 minutes. The Department will provide final striping. Contractor shall be responsible for all private property damage claims resulting from performance of the tasks described above.
