Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University shall: • provide the name of the Department of Music contact to the contractor. • reserve the required space for tuning for special events. • provide list of pianos to include brand name, type and location on campus. The contractor shall: • be able to service Boston, Steinway, and Steinway Spirio pianos • respond to service calls within 5 business days of request from The University. • respond to emergency service calls for tuning within 24 hours of notification. • tune each piano to the standard A440 pitch. Raising and lowering pitch is considered tuning of piano. • notify the University in writing of all tuning issues if tuning deviates from standard pitch. • verify that all parts are securely anchored, bonded, and joined when repairing instruments. All working parts must be adjusted and left in working order unless notification is given to the University. • perform additional labor to include but not limited to minor routine maintenance such as action regulation, tone regulation, reaming, pinning, replacing/regulating damper felts, regulating action/voicing, installing piano trucks • replace work rejected by the University as defective or as nonconforming within 20 days from written notice of rejection at no cost to the University. • charge one fee for piano tuning on upright, and grand pianos. • submit detailed written estimates of all parts, materials and labor needed for all necessary repairs to the University for review. • receive approval from the University before repair work is started. • invoice the University for parts, materials and labor upon completion of approved repair work.
