Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Litter Removal - As needed but at least daily, Monday through Friday Pick up litter, dead flowers, branches, rocks and place same in plastic bags or suitable containers. Objects which are too large or not appropriate for placing in containers shall be gathered and placed in locations designated by the Owner and disposed of at the City landfill. The Owner will provide dumpster service for cemetery litter at no cost to the Contractor. Plastic flowers will be kept until they discolor, lose two (2) flower heads or fall apart. Winter wreaths will be removed the first day of mowing season. Owner shall provide bins for these artificial flowers and wreaths and for their holders. Before disposal of such decorations and holders, Contractor shall store them in these bins for two weeks so that their owners may reclaim them. 2. Mowing Grass - As needed. Contractor shall mow the lawn and chop down weeds to maintain a trim and neat appearance. Weeds will be cut down between mowings when they exceed 8 inches in height. The entire lawn area shall be mowed not more than one week before Memorial Day, July 4th, and Veterans Day. This mowing shall be completed at least 48 hours prior to these holidays. Contractor shall collect all cut grass during the mowing operation or not later than one day thereafter and shall compost it on the cemetery grounds in area identified by the Owner. Grass shall be trimmed around all tombstones and headstones at least once a year, one trimming to be completed prior to Memorial Day. Grass shall be cleaned from all tombstones, headstones and marker plaques not later than one day after each mowing. Artificial and natural flowers in containers (or bound in a bouquet) which are in good condition shall be removed from graves before mowing and replaced immediately after mowing. Once each year, preferably the first mowing, grass shall be mowed short as part of moss control. 3. Weed Control and Fertilization - As needed but at least once each year. Contractor shall control lawn weeds by hand spraying with minimum dosage. No weed control fertilizer or spraying inside tree drip line. The best lawn is gained by using several light applications of moss control, high nitrogen lawn fertilizer. Sweep all headstones after application. Dig out weeds and replace with sod (usually best done in winter or when setting headstones).
