Contractor shall provide (1) curriculum models or programs; (2) compendiums of curriculum models and programs; and (3) professional learning and coaching in person or virtual or both (items 1-3 are collectively referred to as the “Reading Curriculum and Program”). In accordance with Connecticut General Statutes Sections 10-14hh and 14ii, the State Department of Education (CSDE) reviewed and approved the Reading Curriculum and Program for use by local and regional boards of education for students in Pre-Kindergarten to Grade three (PreK–3), inclusive. The Reading Curriculum and Program is evidence-based and scientifically based and focuses on competency in the following areas of reading: 1. oral language; 2. phonemic awareness; 3. phonics; 4. fluency; 5. vocabulary; 6. rapid automatic name or letter name fluency; and 7. reading comprehension.
