Specifications include, but are not limited to: Athletic Trainer Requirements: 1. Services will include evaluation and treatment of injuries sustained by students during school athletic eventsand practices, application offirst aid and recommendation for exercise or physicalmeasuresforminor injuries. They will determine if an injured player is capable of continued participation in a game or practice. 2. The Athletic Trainer shall develop and supervise appropriate rehabilitation programs for athletes under the direction of a physician. 3. The Athletic Trainer will keep accurate records of all athletic injuries reported by school students as occurringduring school athletic events and all rehabilitation procedures administered by Athletic Trainer. 4. In cooperation with the Athletic Director and staff, the Athletic Trainer will develop, review and distribute toAthletic Director, Nurse, and Coaches the following information: An athletic injury protocol and location of emergency phone and phone numbers. 5. The Athletic Trainer will counsel and advise student athletes on health-related issues, including nutrition andsubstance abuse. 6. The Athletic Trainer will oversee annual pre-participation physical exams. This includes collecting and reviewing any required student athletic physical forms and consent to treat forms. 7. Provide coordination between injured athletes, coaching staff, and team or family physician. 8. The Athletic Trainer may be requested to speak for educational programs in Waynesboro Public School. 9. The Athletic Trainer will work with the Medical Sciences Program, providing additional educational resources and hands on training to those students. 10. Assist the School in the improvement of its athletic health care delivery system, the athletic facilities andequipment and athletic training program. 11. Athletic trainer will provide coverage of all home sporting events, including pre-season scrimmages, postseason tournament games, and away varsity football games. 12. Practice attendance will be determined by athletic director and athletic trainer and will typically include dailyattendance of varsity and non-varsity sports. 13. Provide a substitute Athletic Trainerin the event of an absence by the high school Athletic Trainer. 14. Athletic Trainershall comply with allschool division regulations and policies. 15. Athletic Trainer shall comply with VHSL rules for student athlete participation, including, but not limited to, concussion testing, hydration testing, heat advisory requirements, etc. 16. Athletic Trainer shall comply with best practices for the Athletic training industry and shall not violate the guidelines set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) or Virginia laws and regulations for Athletic Trainer services...
