Specifications include, but are not limited to: CONTENT: • The collection must include read-along eBooks that include narration that is synced up with the highlighting of the book text on screen. • The majority of the narration of eBooks and audiobooks should be performed by professional human narrators. • The collection should include titles that span in appropriateness from at least kindergarten through 6th grade. • New titles should be added to the collection at regular intervals. INTERFACE: • The interface should be easy for patrons, especially children, to navigate. • The interface should look professional and engage the user. • Titles should be arranged into age groups, reading levels, categories, etc. • Users should have the ability to search by title, author, category, etc. • Users should be able to toggle the language of the interface and menus between English and Spanish (other languages would be good too). • The web interface or app should scale to the user's device so that the content is usable on mobile phones and tablets, as well as computers. 4.4.3. FEATURES: • The collection should be available through a vendor-hosted app and/or website. • Title records within the platform should include detailed metadata, including format, creator information, reading levels in AR, Lexile, etc. 4.4.4. AUTHENTICATION: • The vendor should support patron authentication via referring URL. 4.4.5. LICENSING: • All content should be licensed to allow for use in classrooms. • All content should be licensed for unlimited, simultaneous access to all titles. 4.4.6. REPORTING: • The vendor should provide detailed usage statistics to the library. 4.4.7. SECURITY AND PRIVACY • The vendor must only use any information about how, when, or from where the product is used for internal and library purposes. Usage and user data may not be sold or made available to any third party. • The chosen vendor for these services must make all reasonable efforts to ensure that neither the website nor the web application are vulnerable to attack, exposure, external manipulation, or any other unauthorized access. 4.4.8. TRAINING • The vendor should provide an initial platform training session to state library staff upon subscription. • The vendor should offer at least one platform training session for Kansas librarians each subscription year. 4.4.9. ONGOING SUPPORT • Responsive and effective technical support (describe the means of requesting support and hours of availability). • Timely application and/or website updates to ensure security, usability, and ongoing improvement. • Advanced notice of planned product downtime and timely communication regarding unplanned product downtime.
