The Inver Grove Heights Fire Department’s primary responsibility is to provide fire and rescue emergency services to a current population of 36,000 residents within a 32 square mile response district. The Department currently operates out of three stations, using a combination of paid-on-call and full-time staff. However, the City is growing and changing, with most new development coming specifically to the northwest quadrant of the city. At the same time, Station #3, which is the logical location from which to serve the City’s northwest area, is aging and in need of major investment if it is to meet the needs of the Department now and into the future. Before determining whether to devote significant financial resources to remodeling or rebuilding the current Station #3, the City desires to determine whether the current location of Station #3 is the best location from which to serve current and future residents and businesses. (Phase 1 of this study). If the current location of Station #3 is not the best location from which to serve the community now and into the future, the City desires to identify alternative locations for a replacement Station #3 to be built. (Phase 2 of this study.)
