Specifications include, but are not limited to: A. The Work generally consists of excavation of solid wastes deposited in the Cell 9A area to expose the leachate drainage layer overlying the bottom liner, performing an investigation on the integrity of the bottom liner system to determine the existence of defects, and making repairs to identified defects. B. The Work presented in the Bid Proposal for this Contract is provided in a single schedule with an additive alternate. A general description of each bid item is provided below: 1. Mobilization and Demobilization: Transportation of equipment and materials to/from the site, preparatory work, operations performed, or costs incurred prior to beginning the Work. 2. Project Coordination and Control: Coordination with facility staff, developing/maintaining a project schedule, participating in weekly construction meetings, road maintenance and dust control, landfill gas control, record keeping, temporary office facilities, and organized storage areas throughout the Work. Provide a means to post applicable permits at each work site and post copies of applicable permits identified by the Owner and Engineer. Copies of applicable permit notices shall be protected from the elements. 3. Odor and Dust Monitoring and Mitigation – Implement and comply with the requirements of the Odor and Dust Management Plan included in Section XVI – Odor and Dust Management Plan. 4. Type III SWPPP: Prepare and implement a Type III SWPPP in accordance with MASS Division 20.02. 5. Construction Surveying: Perform survey work as described in MASS Division 65; Section II – Special Conditions, Revised Section 65; and Article 1.4. 6. Site Preparation: a. Protection of monitoring wells, landfill gas wells, and other landfill piping/utilities within the project area. b. Removal and stockpile of soil already existing within the project area for use in the project. c. Temporary access road construction, as needed. 7. Waste Excavation and Placement: a. Excavate solid wastes and other materials to the lines and grades shown. b. Haul excavated material to the designated fill area. c. Place excavated material in the fill area and compact it to the required density. 8. Leachate Control: During the excavation of solid waste, leachate may be encountered in significant quantities within the waste. The Contractor is allowed and encouraged to direct this leachate to the exposed leachate drainage layer or elsewhere within the waste mass. Such work is incidental to the excavation work described in Article 1.1.B.6.
