Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Mississippi Department of Education, Office of Healthy Schools, will provide school districts opportunities to enhance their school nurse program by either hiring a new school nurse of supplementing an already existing nurse to participate in the Mary Kirkpatrick Haskell – Mary Sprayberry School Nurse program. Districts must demonstrate the following to receive a grant. • School readiness for a nursing program, • How the funds will be used to achieve the goals and objectives of the program • Implementing a world class educational system The Mary Kirkpatrick Haskell-Mary Sprayberry School Nurse grant will be awarded to employ a School Nurse to serve as coordinator of the health services program, including provide nursing care, health education to students/staff or supplement an already exist school nurse program. The individual hired for this program must be a registered nurse to receive funding. A registered nurse is a nurse who has graduated from a college's nursing program or from a school of nursing and has passed a national licensing exam
