Specifications include, but are not limited to: The actual openings for the glass shall be measured to determine the size of the glass; all edges of insulating glass and glass that will be exposed in finished work shall be smooth. 5.4.2 Glass Setting: Preparation of surrounds and glazing surfaces shall be inspected and cleaned of any condition detrimental of achieving a positive weather tight seal. All surfaces shall be thoroughly clean and free from dirt, oil, grease, mortar, and other extraneous matter. Protective coating on metal surfaces shall be removed with solvent before work is begun. All sash and frame units shall be square and plumb and adjusted with joints sealed prior to glazing. Glass for which the manufacturer's printed installation instructions are submitted and approved as specified shall be handled and installed in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Beads or stops which are furnished with the items to be glazed shall be used to secure the glass in place. 5.4.3 Sheet Glass: Glass shall be cut and set with visible lines or waves running the horizontal dimensions. 5.4.4 Insulating Units: Units shall not have edges or corners ground, nipped, cut, or fixed after leaving the factory; shall not be subject to springing, forcing, or twisting during setting and shall be handled so as not to strike setting frames or other objects. 5.4.5 Cleaning: All labels, paint spots, putty, and other defacements shall be removed, and the glass surface shall be thoroughly cleaned before work is accepted.
