Specifications include, but are not limited to: Dare County Department of Health and Human Services Division of Social Services is seeking qualifications to provide legal services under NC General Statute 108A-16 to 108A-18 to the Department through general contract. The term of the contract will be for a period of one (1) year from July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025 with an option to renew for up to four (4) additional one (1) year periods upon consent of all parties. Those submitting a response must be licensed to practice law in the State of North Carolina. The scope of work includes but is not limited to appearing in incompetency proceedings. The attorney will work closely with the supervisor in Adult Services and will prepare petitions and orders in those matters. The Department currently has 17 wards. The proposal should include a plan for coverage when unavailable and a plan for submitting orders timely in accordance with North Carolina General Statutes. Preference will be given for proposals that include litigation experience in adult services and guardianship. Contract will cover hourly payment for services rendered. No retainers will be paid. Optional elements include only reimbursable expenses related to attendance at the County Attorney’s Conference seminars and professional meetings at the per-diem from County Policy.
