Specifications include, but are not limited to: The overall objective is to produce a comprehensive, adaptive management plan that can be effectively implemented. The plan will involve public input regarding management priorities of urban forests on both public and private properties, channeling key goals from past projects and directly linking them to an adaptive management approach and utilizing spatial data to target vulnerable regions of the City’s urban forest landscape. Key components will include: • Compile existing relevant data, reports, studies, and assessments regarding current/past City projects and publications. • Conduct most current Urban Tree Canopy Assessment (UTCA) possible. Analyze historic trends and conduct projections of planting needs to meet canopy objectives. • Perform on-the-ground data collection to establish species composition in existing urban forest; determine degree of restoration needed; and compile data into usable format. • Identify “hot spots” where invasive species will have the greatest negative impact on the existing urban forest and formulate management strategies for resilience. Develop methodology to scale levels of infestation and time/cost projections.
