Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. Solve geotechnical engineering problems and develop design solutions related to levees, dams, canals, and their appurtenances, including fish screens, fish ladders, fish handling facilities, radial gates, pipelines, tunnels, trash racks, embankments, inlet works, outlet works, spillways, bridges, access roads, and other associated structures. 2. Provide engineering geology (including geophysical and seismological), review and consultation. Evaluate rock excavation characteristics and evaluate controlled blasting near critical structures. 3. Provide analysis and interpretation of soil and foundation logging, soil collection and testing, and geologic interpretation. 4. Provide Geographic Information System (GIS) services and support related to geotechnical and geological investigations such as: layers and metadata, historic data, structural features, contract drawings, geologic information, and instrumentation data and measurements. Data delivered under this contract shall comply with the current version of the DWR Spatial Data Standards. 5. Evaluate project risks associated with geotechnical engineering and provide recommendations for assessing and managing those risks including experience in Potential Failure Mode Analysis (PFMA) workshops as a Subject Matter Expert, as described in FERC Engineering Guidelines, Chapter 14 - Dam Safety Performance Monitoring Program. This includes researching engineering documents, leading workshops, performing failure mode analyses, and providing engineering findings in memorandums and reports and participate in Semi-Quantitative Risk Analyses (SQRAs) and Quantitative Risk Analyses (QRAs). 6. Provide value engineering for recommended engineering solutions as related to geotechnical engineering. 7. Perform static and dynamic stability analyses of dams and appurtenances. Perform deformation analyses. 8. Evaluate instrumentation data and performance of dams, embankments, and levees. 9. Perform dam breach analyses. 10. Evaluate foundation for structures. 11. Provide high and low mobility grouting mix design and execution guidance for embankments, foundations, and equipment. 12. Perform seepage estimates and analyses; groundwater modeling; and flow net analyses. 13. Perform filter compatibility, internal erosion, continuing erosion, and piping analyses. 14. Perform seismic hazard and develop ground motions. 15. Evaluate potential for liquefaction and other types of ground failure.
