Specifications include, but are not limited to: This request seeks services to design improvements to the existing Flint Riverfront Trail in Albany, Georgia. The Flint Riverfront Trail is a 2.7-mile concrete multi-use trail along the Flint River that serves as a recreation feature for citizens and visitors. The trail provides a significant recreational and exercise opportunity and offers wildlife viewing and riverine education. However, further improvements are needed to increase its usage and enhance its benefits to the community. There is a primary access point at each end of the trail. These are located at Riverfront Park downtown (south end) and Cox Landing (north end) on the west side of the river. The goal of this request is to seek stakeholder and public input, create design and improvement options, and a maintenance plan. A. Examine the 2.7 mile stretch of trails and develop a scope of work to remediate any existing damage to concrete, amenities, or signage. Develop a plan to upgrade the existing signage over the course of the entire trail including local wildlife plaques spaced every one-quarter (1/4) mile. B. Develop a maintenance schedule that can be implemented by the City or a third-party contractor. C. Develop a plan for a one-half (1/2) mile nature trail, connected to the main trail, located in an advantageous area of the trails. This trail would use aggregate stone instead of concrete for a base. The dimensions of the nature trail should give the user more of a natural feel and preferably be shaded by trees. D. Design two (2) additional viewing stations similar to existing to be located in advantageous areas selected by the designer. E. Design a rest/exercise station every one-half (1/2) mile to include a bench, pull up bar and location and direction signage, using natural shade whenever possible. These areas should be placed in the most advantageous way and incorporate into the existing design. F. Propose community engagement techniques that the City will implement. The consultant/designer will collect and use this data for the final presentation to the City. G. Design a plan to allow vehicle access from Ray Charles Park to Cox landing by removing and redesigning the covered structure under the trestle and any other obstacle to vehicle traffic. H. Propose an additional access point for the trail system. This trailhead should fit into the overall design and purpose of the existing trail system. The access point will be located as an extension of 3rd Avenue and provide for traffic control, parking, landscaping and access to the existing trail with a concrete walkway.
