Specifications include, but are not limited to: Work with shell provider to load barge with shell then plant in sites designated by state representative; 60,000 to 150,000 Bushels; The Vendor {Contractor} shall: A. Plant the processed shell purchased and stockpiled by the NJDEP or other contractor in locations identified by NJDEP; B. Plant only on sites once they have been physically marked (e.g., flagged or buoyed) by NJDEP; C. Plant shell on-site by the Global Positioning System (GPS) chartplotter positioning of that vessel within the flagged area; D. Broadcast a thin layer of shell cast overboard with a raw water pump when planting; E. Equip all shell planting vessels with a GPS chartplotter and an operable back-up electronic positioning system; and F. Equip all vessels with an operable electronic depth sounder. A. Equip all planting vessels and/or barges with a minimum six (6) inch diameter high pressure raw water pump; and B. Ensure vessels and barges are maneuverable and of shallow enough draft to facilitate planting a minimum of 20,000 bushels per trip in eight (8) feet Mean Low Water (MLW). Note: The optimal shell planting period for oyster spat runs from the last week of June to mid-July. Individual planting sites shall be approximately 25 acres in size. This bid is an estimate of what is required. It does not guarantee a maximum amount. Planting area conditions at the time of service will determine if our agency requires the entire amount or less. Vendors must be prepared for cessation of services if agency staff determine that the sites are at capacity.
