The project will remodel approximately 4,775 square feet of the Medical Detachment (MED DET) space within the Aviation Readiness Center. The current medical unit space within the Readiness Center consists of a waiting area, six (6) exam assessment rooms, separate female exam room, eye exam room, hearing room, EKG room, height & vitals room, laboratory, men's & women's restroom, and interior hallways. The space also includes a conference room, and four (4) offices. The current facility layout is inefficient and dysfunctional for medical assessment process. The project will provide a new central open space with offices and assessment rooms surrounding the central area. Currently the order of stations is: In-Brief, Check-In, Vitals, Lab blood work, Eye/Hearing test, Hearing/Dental check, Physician Assessment and Check-Out. The reconfigured medical assessment area will allow the soldiers checkin and efficiently cycle through evaluation stations before meeting with a physician. All walls, ceilings, flooring, electrical, HVAC components, and plumbing will be removed. The lighting, HVAC ductwork, ventilation, ceilings, communications and all finishes will be replaced with new materials. The bathrooms, hallways, and door openings will be sized to meet ADA requirements. Tile and VCT flooring will be considered for durability and ease of maintenance. Signs with room names/numbers and directional information will be part of the project. No structural load-bearings walls are anticipated to be impacted by this project.
