Specifications include, but are not limited to:The Project includes the reconstruction of five storm sewer junction box covers on US Hwy 81. Project includes removal of the existing junction box covers and adjacent concrete surfacing and forming and pouring new concrete covers in place. a. Saw cut 8’x9’x9” existing concrete surface full depth. b. Remove and dispose of existing concrete surface and existing casting within the 8’x9’ area. c. Saw cut and remove the tops of the walls of the existing 3’x4’ structure to a minimum depth of 10” below the finished surface. Removal shall include all existing grout/concrete down to the top of the original structure. d. Apply a thin layer of grout between the top of the structure wall and bottom of the proposed cover to ensure uniform bearing. Grout shall conform to Section 460.2 (K) of the SDDOT Standard Specifications. e. Structures with the top of wall more than 10” below the finished surface shall be extended up to 9” below the finished surface with grout or M6 concrete. f. Supplement, level & compact the existing base around the structure as necessary to a minimum depth of 9” below the finished surface. g. Install forms inside the existing structures to support concrete, casting and reinforcing steel. h. Install casting and reinforcing steel in conformance with the design & specifications as shown on plan sheet 9. i. Pour special 8’x9’x9” junction box cover with M6 concrete or Fast Track Concrete Alternate. j. Finish surface of junction box cover to match adjacent concrete surface. k. Seal surface of junction box cover as per SDDOT specifications. l. Saw cut perimeter of junction box cover to a minimum depth of 1”. m. Clean and fill sawed joint with hot poured elastic joint sealer. n. Remove forms from inside of the structure prior to opening to traffic. o. All costs incurred shall be absorbed in the unit price bid for Special 8’x9’ Junction Box Cover; no additional payment will be made.
