Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Virginia Department of Transportation (herein referred to as “VDOT”) is soliciting bids from qualified firms to furnish and deliver sound wall absorption panels in accordance with the specifications contained herein to do a one-to-one replacement of existing sound wall panels. The panels shall be delivered to Chesapeake, Virginia. 1. Panels shall be listed on the VDOT Materials Division Approved Products List #65. Panels shall meet the specifications for reinforced fiberglass polymer absorptive sound barrier panels per Section 519.02 of the 2020 Edition of the Virginia Road and Bridge Specifications. 3. Nominal height of each panel shall be twelve (12) inches. 4. Thickness of each panel shall be 2 ¾”. 5. Weight of each panel shall not exceed 5.5 lbs. per square foot. 6. Longitudinally arranged channels shall form a tongue and groove interlock joint when stacked. 7. Panel finish shall be embossed or otherwise designed or treated to minimize light reflectance under wet conditions. 8. The channel in the existing support column is 2.875”. Panels provided shall be constructed in such a way that when installed would leave no more than a quarter inch (1/4”) gap in the channel. Maximum panel thickness shall be 2 ¾”. 9. Panel section shall be constructed as a single unit without the need for screws, spacers, bolts or other items to attach to adjacent panels or to the existing structural steel support columns. 10. Barrier panels shall be resistant to the effects of ozone and freeze-thaw cycles. Internal absorptive fill material shall be moisture and corrosive resistant, vermin proof, non-combustible, smokeless and odorless.
