Specifications include, but are not limited to: Equipment Design: The vision testing equipment must offer an On and Off switch or button, be compact with a footprint of less than two (2) feet and weighing ten (10) pounds or less. The vision testing equipment must be designed for desktop or counter-top use and include a dust cover. The equipment must also be portable and equipped with a built-in carry handle. The unit must be self-contained with no moving parts. The vision testing equipment must allow for viewing height adjustments to accommodate persons from 4' 5" to 6' 4" in height when administered in a standing position, as well as applicants of varying height in a seated position. The equipment shall allow height adjustment to be tightened or loosened with fingertip sensitivity. The vision testing equipment must be equipped with a headrest that activates internal illumination when a person's head is in proper testing position. For hygiene purposes, the vision testing equipment must include disposable headrest tissues that can be easily replaced. The vision testing equipment must include a remote control panel with push button or easily activated switch to illuminate one (1) test or all test options on a slide simultaneously. The panel shall display color-coded buttons or indicator lights to signify test(s) being displayed. The vision testing equipment must include a ready light to indicate when an applicant is in position to be tested and test area is active. The remote control panel must allow test administration accessibility up to six (6) feet from the vision testing device. The vision testing equipment must have a minimum lamp lifetime of at least 3,000 hours and include color correction illumination of 5,000 K. A license office or agency staff must be able to replace the lamp without use of accessory tools. The vision testing equipment must allow for use of an electrical connection of 110-120 VAC. The vision testing equipment must utilize the presentation slide that must be easily replaced by agency personnel to allow for new presentations. The vision testing equipment must include closed housing not less than 7½ inches for applicant facial area, including eyeglass frames allowing the targeted test area to be observed by only the test subject. The vision testing equipment; therefore, must accommodate all sizes of contemporary eyeglass frames. The device shall ensure illumination passes through the test slide and does not reflect off of the slide for clear viewing. The illumination must be distributed evenly over the entire activated area and no outside light shall reach the viewing area. Refurbished equipment is not acceptable.
