Specifications include, but are not limited to: The core services and rules applicable to this agreement will include a minimum: All individuals referred for services will receive an orientation within four hours of being accepted into the mentoring program. The orientation will include an explanation of the mentor services available and the rules and expectations. This shall include, at a minimum, written or oral information about the expectation of active participation in services, program rules and policies, and criteria for program completion; The Mentor will maintain a caseload of 15-20 individuals at any given time; A release of information will be obtained from the provider/mentor with community corrections. Mentors will provide resources and emotional support to justice involved individuals, including escorting people to community support groups, assisting with job search and applications, provide crisis intervention and help find alcohol and drug free housing. The position requires the ability to hold others accountable. Mentors will be required to actively engage in the recovery community. Mentors will role model pro-social interaction and relationships; introduce justice involved individuals to pro-social supports; teach boundaries; address criminal thinking errors; and promote healthy coping mechanisms for relapse prevention. Mentors will understand and use cognitive behavioral intervention methods. Mentors will serve as a resource person and a confidante.
