Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Bridgeport, Department of Public Facilities seeks pricing for the purchase and removal of mixed scrap metal primarily comprised of light metals, white goods (metallic), heavy metals, ferrous and non-ferrous metals, in no set proportions deposited in a seventy (70) yard container stationed at the Bridgeport Transfer facility located at 475 Asylum Street AND a twenty (20) yard container at 495 North Washington Avenue. Bids may not include any charges to the City of Bridgeport. Containers shall be supplied and replaced as needed by the successful bidder. Quality of Metal Removed Bids are invited for the removal, weighing, and purchase of “scrap metal”. The City makes no warranty or guarantee, either express or implied, as to quality, character, condition, size or kind of metal offered for purchase. The Purchaser is therefore, urged to inspect the scrap metal at the removal site, as failure to do so shall not be an excuse for the raising of claims. All items offered are on an “as is”. All Foreign Materials associated with the metals shall also be removed from the site. Required Performance The Purchaser agrees to purchase and remove the actual amounts of scrap metal made available. No guarantee is made as to the actual amounts of scrap metal. The exact tonnage shall be verified at time of pick–up by the City and confirmed by Purchaser and then documented on an official hauling ticket. The weight testament on each of these tickets generated will be used in the calculation of payment due by Purchaser. Removal Procedures The Purchaser shall supply the 70-yard trailers at 475 Asylum Street and reserve another 70-yard trailer off site and at the ready, to replace filled container upon demand. No guarantees for pickup frequency are made. Pickups are required daily. The Purchaser shall supply the 20-yard trailers at 495 North Washington Avenue and reserve another 20-yard trailer off site and at the ready, to replace filled container upon demand. No guarantees for pickup frequency are made. Pickups are required bi-weekly. Scrap metal will generally be loaded by the Contractor operating the transfer station into trailers provided by the Purchaser. However it is the Purchaser’s responsibility to ensure that all scrap metal is properly secured to prevent spillage during transportation from the City to the processing 2 facility, and that the materials collected are being processed at a legitimate facility licensed and permitted to accept and process the specified material.
