Specifications include, but are not limited to: Daily Cleaning Duties: A. Vacuum, sweep or dry mop all floors throughout building accordingly B. Clean cigarette disposal containers outside of building. C. Clean employee and patron bathrooms—includes wet mopping tile floors, scrubbing sinks and commodes with cleanser, cleaning mirror, spot cleaning walls and doors and spraying air freshener and disinfectant. D. Clean and disinfect water fountain. E. Clean front entrance glass doors, inside and out. F. Check restroom supplies (tissue, soap, towels) and replenish as needed. G. Damp mop all tile floors with disinfectant. H. Vacuum all carpet and spot clean as needed. Weekly Cleaning Duties: A. Clean with wet cloth all counter tops, tops of file cabinets, kitchen tables & tops of bookcases throughout the building. B. Clean all storage areas as needed. C. Damp mop all tile flooring including all waiting areas, hallways, and all of downstairs area including hallway and vending/receiving room. D. Buff floors as needed. E. Clean and disinfect trash cans. Quarterly Cleaning Duties: A. Scrub floors in restrooms with stiff brush and cleaner. B. Strip and wax all tile floors (more often if needed in heavy use areas). C. Clean all windows inside and out. D. Clean light fixtures. E. Clean mechanical room. F. Clean all carpet traffic areas. Grounds Cleaning Duties: A. Pick up trash and litter from yard, parking lots and ditches at least once per week. B. Sweep walks and entrances as needed. Solid Waste Cleaning Duties: A. Empty all waste containers daily. B. Replace trash can liners if torn or contain liquid waste. C. Trash is to be deposited in outdoor garbage container. Organization & Maintenance of Storage Areas: A. Keep custodial storage areas in neat order with all supplies in their assigned space for storage with a cleared walking area into the room. B. Store cleaning compounds and caustic substances under lock and key out of reach of children. C. Properly dispose of any substances which are determined to be unusable as designated by the County Library Department Director. D. Store all combustible materials in safe area away from heat. Preventative Maintenance & Repair: A. Check stock of supplies and report to County Library Department Director before the last week of each month. B. Clean air intake vents. Building Security: A. Check that all outside doors are securely closed and locked when leaving building after work hours. B. Report any irregularities related to security to the County Library Department Director Scheduling of Time: A. Scheduled janitorial duties are to be performed after regular work hours on weekdays or non-work days for special jobs. B. The County Library Department Director should be notified as far in advance as possible in the event of absences or vacation.
