Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Division of Forestry and Wildlife (DOFAW) is seeking bids for constructing ungulateproof fences, as well as associated tasks such as clearing the fence corridor and fabricating step-through gates and a vehicle drive through gate. The successful bidder will enter into a contract with the State of Hawaii from which fence projects will be executed with a State of Hawaii Purchase Order (PO). The objectives are to 1) protect and preserve the remaining 1,200 acres (ac) of the Kamehamenui forest reserve and the rare and endangered species it supports, and 2) to prevent Axis deer migration across the greater landscape, allowing for more effective and attainable control efforts. See attached maps and schematics (Figure 1 and 2). The project area is owned and managed by the DLNR and Haleakala Ranch. The fenceline route runs across both state owned and privately owned lands. Approximately 11,000 LF of deer fence may be constructed in TMK (2) 2-3:005:002 and (2) 2-3:005:003. The State will contract on a per linear foot basis. Minor changes in the fence alignment may be made due to terrain or avoidance of sensitive features, such as the identification of endangered plants and/or endangered seabird burrows. The State reserves the right to purchase larger or smaller quantities at the per linear foot price quoted on the OFFER FORM page.
