Specifications include, but are not limited to: 2.3.3 Medical Waste Disposal 2.3.3.1 The Contractor shall provide supplies and collect waste as specified below. The service shall be provided on such days and at such times as the Contractor and the FSD agree. The Contractor acknowledges that because of security and staffing considerations on the part of the FSD, the FSD might not be able to accommodate the Contractor on those days and at those times when it might be most convenient for the Contractor to provide service; however, the FSD will make every effort to come to an equitable arrangement with the Contractor. 2.3.3.2 The Contractor shall provide the FSD with as much of the following waste collection supplies as the Contract Monitor or designee determines is needed for a two (2) week period: i. To protect the bags from puncture, rigid containers which have been clearly labeled in conformance with all pertinent regulations and which are of the volume specified in these specifications. iii. Sealing tape for the rigid containers 2.3.3.3 The amount of waste that will be picked up bi-weekly (once every two (2) weeks) at the FSD Pikesville, unless specified by the Contract Monitor, is approximately three (3) to eight (8) 6.2 cubic footage boxes or more depending on amount of waste generated for the week. This is an estimate figure only based on previous year’s records. MDSP will not be held to any minimum or maximum amounts. 2.3.3.4 Although the amount of waste that will be picked up will vary, it must still be picked up from FSD Pikesville on a bi-weekly basis. If the normal pickup day falls on a State Holiday when the FSD Pikesville is closed, then another Working Day of that same week will be chosen by mutual agreement of the Contract Monitor and Contractor as the collection day. In the event that the Contractor is unable, for whatever reason, to make the weekly pickup on the designated day, arrangements must be made for pickup on the next Working Day so that the FSD does not have to store waste longer than necessary. 2.3.3.5 The Contractor may not charge additional fees for rescheduled pickups 2.3.3.6 The Special Medical Waste that will be collected will consist of: i. Sharps (needles, syringes, scalpel blades, glass pipettes, slides, etc.) ii. Laboratory waste (culture plates, petri dishes, test tubes, etc.) iii.
