Design and preparation of engineering plans and specifications and other related documents for competitive bidding and contract award by the City for dredging sediment materials from the creek. The consultant shall determine the amount of sediment that needs to be removed to restore proper stormwater conveyance. Sediment transport into the project area will continue from all upstream areas with all normal flow down Winfield Creek. It is desired by the City to determine if an improved channel which will improve the sediment transport through this area can be achieved. Design elements shall include, but are not limited to, the following: A. Conduct a topographic and/or bathymetric survey to estimate the volume of sediment present in the creek on both segments highlighted in the exhibit. B. Determine the volume of sediment to be removed. C. Soil testing to characterize the sediment and identify special permits, special handling requirements and for removal and proper disposal of sediment using eco-friendly methods. D. Analyze and compare various construction techniques for removing sediment. E. Provide optional design services to establish an improved channel configuration which will decrease the amount of sedimentation that occurs in this area. F. Estimate the contract construction cost for the dredging. G. Review and assistance with all required permitting for the dredging. H. Meet with City staff prior to starting design work and during the intervals of plan development at 75%, and 95% completion.
