Specifications include, but are not limited to: The current 86th Street bridge does not provide a pedestrian and bicycle crossing for I-80/35. This study will review the existing and proposed developments on Northpark Drive and Plum Drive between 100th Street and 86th Street, and determine the best location to construct a pedestrian bridge to connect these two arterial corridors. See attached exhibit for location. Northpark Drive currently has a 10-foot trail on the north side of the roadway. Plum Drive does not yet have set trail locations along most of the route, and due to required turn lanes, the trail will require easements. The study shall consider access to the existing sidewalks on 86th Street and determine connections from the proposed bridge to trails in both corridors, including the existing 100th Street trail, existing Glen Eagles Trail, existing Northpark Drive Trail, and a proposed location for the Plum Drive Trail. Finally, the City would like to install streetlight poles capable of holding banners along Plum Drive (similar to the current installations along Northpark Drive); the study should include proposed locations for banner poles. The results of the study will be used to refine the City’s Capital Improvements Program and guide development requirements in these corridors.
