Specifications include, but are not limited to: The proposer shall review different types of RFA from physicians submitted to DIR to determine if the requested treatment(s) is medically necessary based on established medical treatment guidelines. RFA types include, but are not limited to, prospective reviews, concurrent reviews, retrospective reviews, peer reviews, expedited reviews, and specialty reviews. The proposer shall follow DIR’s procedures and guidelines when reviewing RFAs. The proposer shall make available for use a utilization review tracking system (URTS) that shall track of the receipt and completion dates of RFAs, status of submitted RFAs, determinations made, and dates that notices were sent to the requesting physician and injured worker, and Independent Medical Review applications. The proposer shall conduct initial and periodic training for DIR staff to ensure that they are fully aware of their responsibilities in administering the URTS. The proposer shall provide statistical reports to DIR regarding the status of all RFAs submitted for review.
