Deposition method specifications: - Must be able to pattern inks through a nozzle. - Must be able to extrude materials based upon screw-driven, mechanical, or pneumatic methods. - Must be capable of monitoring the extrusion pressure of the ink for feedback-based control of the flow of material through the nozzle. - Must have a maximum dispensing pressure of 60 psi. - Must be able to use nozzle diameters from 100 to 400 µm. - Must be able to load ink volumes between 2 and 10 mL. - Must have a print height resolution of +/- 10 µm. - Must have a minimum trace width of at least 125 µm. - Must be able to allow for customization of print speed, extrusion rate or pressure, and surface offset height. Ink and substrate compatibility specifications: - Must be able to extrude inks based on soft materials (silicones, elastomers, polymers) and composite materials (polymers mixed with nanomaterial fillers). - Must be able to deposit inks with viscosities similar to screen printing inks. - Must be compatible with shear thinning inks. - Must be able to deposit materials onto metallic polymer films with thicknesses up to 25 mm. - Must have a printing area of at least 200 mm x 200 mm. - Must have a method to affix a substrate for printing and may accomplish this by a clamp or vacuum. Nozzle and stage movement and calibration specifications: - Must be able move relative position of nozzle and stage in XYZ directions. - Must have a movement accuracy of at least 30 µm. - Must have an XY step resolution less than 15 µm. - Must be able to control printing speeds in a range of 0.5 mm/s to 15 mm/s. - Must be able to continuously print connected patterns (no pausing between connected lines). - Must be compatible with the use of DWG, DXF, Gerber, or G-Code files to read and print a pattern. - Must have software to control and monitor the printing process. - Must have a top-down camera and vision system to view printed patterns. - Must have a calibration process and sensor to detect surface height of the substrate before printing. - Must have a calibration process for multi-layered printing and alignment. Delivery, Installation, and Training: - Supplier must provide one virtual training session of the equipment. Customer Support: - The printer shall include lifetime customer support in the form of virtual support (phone calls/emails) for general help/troubleshooting and assistance. Warranty: - Supplier must provide at least a 24-month warranty covering parts and labor.
