Specifications include, but are not limited to: I. ECSO is seeking one (1) dog between the ages of one year to two and a half years old to be trained by the ECSO as a dual-purpose, explosive scent detection and patrol/tracking, tactical use canine. 2. ECSO is seeking one ( 1) dog between the ages of one year to two and a half years old to be trained as a single-purpose explosive detection canine. 3. The dogs can be either sex. 4. The breed of dogs sought are various work dog breeds, including but not limited to German Shepherds, Belgian Malinois, and Dutch Shepherds for both dogs. 5. Each dog must be imprinted on explosive odor, not finished. 6. The dual-purpose dog must have a prior introduction to the following: a. Bite suit/aggression b. Tracking c. Obedience 7. ECSO Representatives shall be provided an opportunity to interact with the canine and examine the dog who shall: a. Demonstrate appropriate socialization behavior with people. b. Respond appropriately to physical and social pressure without demonstrating aggressive behavior. 8. The Vendor must provide all health and physical examination documentation including but not limited to radiographs, blood analysis, and structural examinations. 9. Dogs shall demonstrate four predispositions which the ECSO considers paramount to a successful police work dog: a. Strong hunt drive b. Prey drive c. Social d. Physical energy 1 O. The vendor shall provide a minimum one-year health guarantee which covers physical and mental health Issues. 11. The vendor shall guarantee the dogs provided for review and later selected can complete the required basic training course in which the dog certifies to standards. Furthermore, if the dog fails to meet certification standards for physical and or mental health issues the dog shall be replaced at no cost to ECSO. 12. All canines will be made available for evaluation and will receive a grade from an ECSO representative from a predetermined, yet proprietary grading system.
