The SR-60/Redlands Boulevard interchange was constructed in 1964. The existing interchange consists of the Redlands Boulevard overcrossing with eastbound and westbound entrance and exit ramps. Both ramp intersections are signalized. The entrance ramps are currently not metered. The Redlands Boulevard overcrossing (PM 20.37, Bridge Number 56-0487) has four spans, with precast girders that are simply supported by two-column bents and open-ended diaphragm abutments. The bents and abutments are on Cast in Drilled Hole (CIDH) piles. The bridge is approximately 236 feet long, 34 feet wide, and spans four through lanes and both entrance ramps on SR- 60. The purpose of the project is to alleviate congestion, enhance freeway access and regional goods movement, provide increased interchange capacity, improve traffic operations to support the forecast travel demand for the 2050 design year; improve existing interchange geometric including bridge height to meet Caltrans standards; and accommodate a multimodal facility that has harmony with the community and preserves the value of the area. In June 2016, a Project Study Report - Project Development Support (PSR-PDS) was completed ad approved by Caltrans. Various improvements to the interchange were proposed which include, but are not limited to: 1) reconstruction and realignment of SR 60/Redlands Blvd ramps, 2) widening of Redlands Blvd, and replacement of the overcrossing structure, 3) realignment of Spruce Street on the north side of SR-op60 @ Redlands Boulevard, 4) provision for California Highway Patrol (CHP) enforcement areas as required, 5) addition of ramp metering as required, 6) provision for truck operations, 7) coordination of utility relocations, 8) provision for landscaping and irrigation, and/or hardscape, to the extent required, and 9) related improvements as required by the City and Caltrans. Improvements along Redlands Boulevard that are consistent with the City General Plan, the Circulation Plan, Bike and Trail Master Plans, Master Drainage Plan, and any other applicable local and regional planning plans, are also considered to be included n this project.
