Specifications include, but are not limited to: The yield for the proposed HMA, 5EML (Top Course) is 220 pounds per square yard. The yield for the proposed HMA, 5EML (Hand Patching) is a variable amount pounds per square yard based on application. The yield for the proposed HMA, 5EML (HMA Approach) is 220 pounds per square yard. The Asphaltic Cement for the mixture shall be performance grade 64-28. The Bond Coat Material shall be SS-1h. The application rate shall be 0.05 to 0.15 gallons per square yard as directed the Engineer. The Bond Coat shall not be a pay item. The Aggregate Wear Index (AWI) number required for the aggregate used in production of the HMA mixture used in the wearing course of the traveled way shall be 260 minimum. Number of Rollers Method shall apply as a minimum requirement for this project. The Nuclear Gauge Method for testing may be used at the discretion of the Engineer. The Target Air Void percentage shall be 3.5% for all leveling and top course HMA on this project. Any utility trenches across commercial drives shall be maintained by the use of existing or salvaged materials and costs associated with this work included in Minor Traffic Devices. Necessary emergency work performed by the County due to the negligence of the Contractor will be billed against the Contractor. Walks, driveways and entrances to building shall not be unnecessarily blocked. Vehicular access shall be maintained to all properties designated by the Engineer at all times. Construction shall be completed in such a manner as to maintain the required entrance width for traffic at all times. When partial widths of new pavement are available to traffic, access to drives shall be provided immediately.
