Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Maryland Department of Health (MDH or the Department), through its sub-unit, the Behavioral Health Administration (BHA), is issuing this Request for Applications (RFA) to: provide substance use disorder specific consultation to medical providers (physicians, nurse-practitioners, physician assistants, and other healthcare providers) that are managing complex patients with substance use disorder issues, primarily related to the use of buprenorphine. This project aims to increase the number of eligible buprenorphine prescribers and support those who are already prescribing buprenorphine or any other medication for opioid use disorder. Eligible buprenorphine prescribers are any provider that has a DEA license to prescribe CDS (controlled dangerous substance). The Applicant must have the capability of starting the services immediately. The goal is to avoid any gaps in services that would be detrimental to the prescribers and practices seeking consultation and assistance with treating patients with opioid use disorder. The contractor will provide services in all 24 jurisdictions, virtually or in-person, with one central headquarters.
