Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Former O&W Train Station is an historic train station built in 1892-1893. It is a three-story brick and sandstone building that measures approximately 237 feet (72 m) long and has turrets on the north and south ends. The turret sections as well as the portions of the south and north end were constructed using wood, while the center section of the building was constructed using concrete, speed block and structural terra cotta tile. The building’s foundation is made of stone which is mortared together, and the crawlspace surface is dirt. There are 3 distinct roofing sections on this building; turret roofs are slate roofing tile, the main flat roof is a built-up roofing system and the lower roof is an asphalt shingle system. The buildings heating system used a boiler to send hot water through insulated pipes to radiators throughout the building. Additions and alterations were made to the original building in 1904 and 1920. The station closed on September 10, 1953 and the building was used for multiple commercial and retail purposes. The building has been vacant for the last 15-20 years and as such has incurred significant damages to the roofing system and subsequently now has significant damages to interior finishes the building also has structural issues. The intent of this project is to redevelop the building for mixed use and the following services are required to do so. The services requested are removal and disposal of asbestos containing materials throughout the building and site, provide temporary shoring/bracing/stabilization, perform interior demolition, clean up debris (C&D) throughout the building and clear the vegetation from the site. The abatement contractor's responsibilities will include: o Perform all asbestos abatement, structural shoring & bracing, and select interior demolition/cleaning as detailed in the design documents (SPEC & Drawings) and SSV; o Collection and recycling/disposal of Universal/Special Waste (bulbs, ballast, thermostats etc.) o Perform site clearing of overgrowth vegetation from the building and within the boundaries of the site fencing to grade. Associated Services to be provided by others will include: o Utility disconnects and or cut-and-cap utilities are by others. o A site-specific variance to the NYSDOL will be required to conduct the asbestos abatement in the most cost-effective manner. This service has be provided by others. o Asbestos Project/Air Monitoring will be required before, during and post abatement. This Service will be provided by others.
