The Santan Vista Water Treatment Plant is fed from the Central Arizona Project (CAP) turnout and raw water is supplied via a single feed, 14-mile-long, 48” ductile iron pipe that was installed in 2009. The pipeline was installed with a cathodic protection system consisting of polyethylene wrap and a sacrificial anode system and test stations at 86 locations along the alignment. This pipeline is owned by the Town of Gilbert and City of Chandler. Since installation, routine surveys have been completed to monitor the condition of the cathodic protection system. In recent years, results of the surveys have shown degradation of the anodes, missing/damaged test stations, and recommend rehabilitation/replacement in the near future.
