Specifications include, but are not limited to: The City of Tacoma (City) / Tacoma Public Utilities (TPU) / Tacoma Rail is soliciting bids to establish one or more contracts with qualified vendors to fulfill the City’s needs for spraying services to achieve effective vegetation eradication on approximately 32 miles of railroad track including 1 bridge (approximately 100 feet) on an as-needed basis for up to five (5) years. Contractor shall be a licensed Pest Control Operator (PCO) and provide a copy of its pesticide and Structural Pest Inspector (SPI) licenses issued from the State of Washington, and PCO number with submittal. Contractor employees are required to complete the on-line safety course, specific toTacoma Rail, Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) or Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) at contractororientation.com. Contract(s) will be awarded to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder(s) based on price, product quality and availability. Supply all labor and equipment, including hi-rail equipment and the herbicides needed to achieve effective vegetation eradication, as well as on-call services for noxious weed notices issued to Tacoma Rail by area jurisdictions. Spring spraying is expected to take place between April 1 and June 30 or as requested by Tacoma Rail. Fall spraying is expected to take place between September 1 and November 30 or as requested by Tacoma Rail. A Tacoma Rail maintenance of way (MOW) representative will accompany Contractor personnel in order to satisfy Roadway Worker Protection and territory familiarization requirements as prescribed by the Federal Railroad Administration.
