Specifications include, but are not limited to: a) Wherever practical and permissible, dead or defective and fast-growing weed trees located so as to be a hazard to BPUB’s electric lines should be removed, but only when authorized by a BPUB representative. Logs shall be disposed of as designated in the Easement or Specification. Brush shall be disposed of on the right-of-way or as designated in the Easement or Specifications. b) The parties shall mutually determine materials and methods to be used for all chemical treatment work hereto. Service Provider makes no warranty as to the results of any work of any experimental nature or of any work required to be done using materials or methods, which have not proven effective. Service Provider shall have the right to omit any portion of an electric line when, in its opinion, damage to crops, orchards or ornamental plantings is likely to result. All such omissions shall be reported to BPUB, and no further action shall be taken except upon mutual agreement of the parties hereto. c) The following pruning practices shall be utilized: Techniques consistent with the practice of natural, lateral, and drop crotch trimming. Cuts are to be made to the main stem or to a branch which is at least one third the diameter of the portion being removed. Whenever possible, all trimming cuts shall be made to direct future growth and sprouting away from the conductors. A minimum of cuts should be utilized to achieve required clearances. Where practical, cuts should be primarily restricted to large diameter branches made well within the crown. Shaping through the use of many cuts of small diameter branches in the outer crown should be avoided. Remove living branches by making cuts as close as possible to the branch collar. Remove dead branches by making cuts as close as possible to the living tissues that surround the dead branch at the base. Precautions shall be taken to avoid stripping or tearing of bark when cutting large-diameter limbs.
