Specifications include, but are not limited to: HACD is seeking a licensed contractor to provide all services described herein and to furnish all labor, materials, tools and expendable equipment to provide tree services in a safe and efficient manner. Contractor shall perform all work as directed by authorized HACD personnel and shall make any recommendations based on site evaluations. A. TREE REMOVAL 1. The work to be performed under this section must include removing trees in accordance with ANSI Z133-2017 Safety Requirements for Arboricultural Operations. 2. Trees must be felled only when there is an adequate felling area at least equal in radius to the height of the tree. 3. Trees that cannot be felled due to adjacent trees, vegetation, roadways, buildings, structures, utilities and or lack of adequate felling area must be topped and or sectioned. 4. Climbing hooks must only be worn for tree removals. The Contractor must take all reasonable precautions to avoid damaging surrounding vegetation or lawn areas and prevent gouging and erosion of soils as a result of tree removal operations. 5. All stumps caused by removal must be ground out, and the area filled with soil on the same day of the tree removal. B. PRUNING 1. The work to be performed under this section must include removing trees in accordance with ANSI Z133-2017 Safety Requirements for Arboricultural Operations and ANSI A300 Pruning Standards. 2. Trees designated for pruning will be pruned of all interfering, dead, diseased, dying, and weakly attached branches. 3. On the same day a tree is pruned the Contractor must remove all wood, debris and chips from the site. Removal and disposal must be the responsibility of the Contractor. 4. Contractor must chip all material 18” in diameter or less. 5. All specified pruning and removals at the site of a designated tree must be completed, including removal of logs and debris before initiating work on the next tree.
