Specifications include, but are not limited to: 1. The project consists of planting and other required care of approximately sixty-two (62) new prepurchased trees in various locations. This is an estimated number and the City reserves the right to add or subtract trees depending on the availability of funding. 2. Tree species and locations are shown on the Planting Schedule below. a. Species and location may change depending on DigSafe approval and species availability. 3. Tree size: a. The caliper of Ornamental trees will be 1 ½” to 1 ¾” and will be 6’ to 15’ tall. b. The caliper of other trees will be 2” to 2 1/2” and will be 12’ to 18’ tall. 4. The Planting schedule identifies the existing surface material at tree pits. a. The city will prepare tree pit openings at concrete and asphalt locations. b. At locations shown as dirt, grass or brick the contractor shall prepare tree pits. c. At brick sidewalk locations the contractor will be required to remove and reset bricks to match the existing pattern neatly defining the perimeter borders of the tree pits. Unused bricks shall be neatly and safely stacked for the homeowner’s use or later retrieval by the city. i. The contractor will be paid per the submitted unit price for these locations. 5. The contractor shall provide all planting materials including mycorrhizal fungi and other soil amendments as needed. a. The scope includes furnishing and installing sand drainage medium and/or structural planting medium including mycorrhizal fungi where existing soil conditions are unsatisfactory. b. The contractor will remove and legal disposal of all excess excavated materials. c. The contractor shall provide and install city furnished Bark Mulch at all tree pits. Mulch is available at the Colby Farm Lane Yard Waste Facility. It is the responsibility of the Contractor to pick up the mulch at this location.
