Tree Removal Removal: Only trees marked with a red paint spot by the City must be removed. Trees must be topped before removal unless conditions permit felling. No trees or trunks are felled onto pavement. Work includes removal of all basal sprouts, brush, and weeds within three feet of the trunk. All limbs and trunks must be removed and roped down or controlled as necessary to prevent any damage or injury to people, adjacent trees or buildings, vehicles, driveways, streets, or other property, public or private. If a tree’s crown is removed first, trunks must be removed within five (5) days, or the City will deduct the pro-rated cost of that tree from final payment. For trees in wooded park areas, stumps may be cut flush with the ground, or left at varying heights up to 10’ - specifics will be noted on list of locations. Honeysuckle/buckthorn growing near the removed trees may be cut back or removed. However, measures to protect other trees must be taken. Work to be contained to path areas as much as possible. Clean-Up: The work site must be left equal to or cleaner than its pre-work condition. Tree limbs and other parts dropped or lowered from trees are to be kept off private property. Where private property must be used for access or other, the Contractor must notify the Superintendent of Parks and Forestry, then wait for written permission from the property owner before proceeding to work on that tree. Clean-up is to be completed within same day after debris has been placed around the site of each tree requiring pruning or removal. All lawn areas must be raked, and all paved areas shall be swept. Vehicles must not not be driven onto Park turf unless soil is dry or frozen enough to prevent rutting. Wood Products and Debris: When not specified it is the total responsibility of the Contractor to remove and dispose of all wood, chips, brush, and debris resulting from his tree work in a safe and legal manner. Wood not reserved by the City may be given to residents at the resident's request, or as noted on the Contract. Contractor may contact adjacent residents to ask if they wish to keep the wood. All wood which is left for residents must be cut to a length of not more than 20 inches. Debris or logs must not remain on the public right-of-way past the end of a work day unless specified as reserved for the City.
