Specifications include, but are not limited to: The University of Utah (University) on behalf of the School of Biological Sciences is seeking a UAV and Sensor Equipment for Forest Research vendor (Vendor). Proposed items or systems must be able to provide services as described in the attached scope of work and minimum specifications. We are aiming to visit several forest and shrubland sites that are known to be experiencing climate-induced tree mortality so that we can generate high quality, high resolution imagery that catalogues the location and status of climate-stressed vegetation. These data will be used to calibrate and validate algorithms for forest mortality detection using spaceborne time series of thermal data. We will develop 3-D point clouds using Structure-from-Motion (also known as Photogrammetry) algorithms using as input high resolution photos from the Sony ILX-LR1 camera mounted on a vibration-isolated gimbal. We will use the multispectral imagery from the MicaSense RedEdge-P to help characterize the live, dead, or stressed status of trees. Both the Sony ILX-LR1 and the MicaSense RedEdge-P will be flown on the Inspired Flight IF800. Vendor must have the availability to provide the listed specifications as described. The University will allow minor substitutions if the vendor fully explains the function and feasibility of their substitution within the framing of the other specifications. The University reserves the right to decline a bid offer if substitutions are offered which are not deemed acceptable by the University. Please be sure to submit a filled out version of the IFB document with your submission.
