The updates should include, but not be limited to, the following: • Align the regulations to the Comprehensive Plan. • Modernize the current Regulations to meet contemporary and future land development needs. • Organized and formatted in a simple and visually pleasing layout for clear concise communication. The document should be cross-referenced to eliminate repetition. • Include simple language, diagrams to illustrate regulations, and concise tables and charts. • Modernize land use categories and terminology used throughout the Code. • Effectively address the increasing development within the county regarding infrastructure and growth management. • Update telecommunication facility regulations to meet state and federal regulations. • Update sign regulations to align with current case law to be content neutral and appropriate for the county setting. • Ensure that the Regulations are based on generally accepted land use law and principles as well as state and federal regulations. • Create a unique document specific to the needs of Johnson County.
