The selected broker will: Initial Proposal and Selection of Student Insurance Carrier: • Advocate on behalf of WVU in the proposal, selection, design, negotiation, and renewal of the annual student health insurance plan. • Advise WVU in consideration of student health insurance plan and administration requirements. Preliminary requirements are listed in section “Insurance Carrier Responsibilities”. • Serve as intermediary between WVU and insurance carriers to seek and collect competitive proposals from to provide an annual student health insurance plan meeting the established requirements. • Serve as intermediary between WVU and insurance carriers or third-party administrators to ensure established coordination of eligibility and enrollment data, premium billing, waiver system (as applicable) and interface solution with WVU student financial systems and other administrative components of student health insurance. • Assist WVU in the review and evaluation of responding proposals, including recommending evaluation metrics and providing relevant industry benchmarks and trends. • Recommend plan design and enhancements, in addition to cost containment measures including funding model options. • Advise on impacts of both hard waiver and voluntary enrollment models for the student populations as WVU that includes plan design, cost and implementation strategies. • Negotiate with carriers/underwriters to obtain the most suitable and cost-effective coverage. • Coordinate contract execution between selected carrier and WVU, including liaising with multiple units across the University
