Specifications include, but are not limited to: The Supervised Independent Program will assist youth in ensuring they feel supported in their Independent Living goals by navigating, connecting, or administering services to include but not be limited to: • Serve as a child placing entity in an appropriate and Approved Placement Setting for qualified foster youth who turn 18 while in MDCPS custody, actively participating and meeting enrollment requirements of high school or High School Equivalency (HSE) program, post-secondary education/vocational program, employed full time or actively seeking employment and anticipated to remain in custody for an additional year. • Develop an on-going, youth-led transition/independent living plan (MDCPS format) for youth participating in the program derived from the MDCPS Youth Appraisal including goals for education, employment, housing, transportation and needed life skills that align with their individual plans after leaving foster care. • Providing on-going support for youth to complete high-school or high school equivalent. • Administering and implementing vocational aptitude assessments, career interest surveys, vocational planning and coaching, and vocational training. Services for vocational training and coaching may be accomplished through enrollment in vocational training courses or approved apprenticeships. • Assistance and support in navigating state systems, finding and applying for various funding streams, and supporting on-going participation to complete postsecondary education and/or vocational training pathways.
