Specifications include, but are not limited to: a. Project Management and Coordination • Perform project management duties, quality control/quality assurance and project coordination as necessary for the project. b. Geotechnical Exploration • Perform drilling and sampling of up to four borings. No undisturbed sampling is required, but the soils that result from the drilling process shall be available for viewing, documenting, and soil classification testing. • Install single and/or multiple grouted-in vibrating wire piezometers and/or openstandpipe piezometers with vibrating wire piezometers at the crest and toe of the main embankment. Geokon vibrating wire piezometers shall be used. • Clean and develop open-standpipe piezometers as part of the installation. • All multiple open-standpipe piezometers will require the mixing and placing of a cement bentonite plug or bentonite chips between the multiple transducers. • Install completion vaults. • All piezometers should include an excess of 10 feet of cable at the ground surface, and the cable shall be tightly coiled and neatly tucked into the completion vault. • Document water observations during advancement of the boring, upon completion of the boring, prior to the installation of a piezometer, and after development of a standpipe piezometer. • Monitor the installed instruments over time. Readings should be recorded as digits and any other units the Geokon handheld device records. • Retrofit existing open-standpipe piezometers with vibrating wire piezometers. • Abandon exiting open-standpipe piezometers located along the downstream slope about 15 feet from the downstream crest of the main embankment. • Provide an engineer and/or geologist who is competent in the field of dam safety to oversee the drilling and instrument installation/abandonment activities, and to log the borings. • Adhere to all TRWD and OSHA safety requirements and perform activities undertaken regarding these program requirements in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. • All drilling and instrument installation/abandonment activities in and near the embankment dam shall be performed to satisfy current Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requirements. c. Reporting • The report shall include description of the project, geotechnical exploration summary, groundwater observations, and attachments such as boring location map, boring logs, logs of piezometer installation/abandonment, instrumentation readings, instrumentation calibration sheets, and any other supporting documents as necessary. • Complete well reports with the state.
